On
Wednesday, May 11, Members of the Board of Directors and the Principal, Michael
A. LaForgia completed a two year course of study at St. John’s University.
A certificate was signed
and presented to the Academy by Dr. Jerrold Ross, Dean, The School of
Education, Dr. Mary Jane Krebbs Institute Director, and Dr. Thomas Chadzutko,
Superintendent of Schools.
The Board and Administration devoted many nights and weekends to attend
various meetings and workshops offered at the University. We are thankful to the SJU team for
their guidance and use of resources to ensure the Academy was providing the
highest quality education while strengthening our Catholic Identity.
Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy was part of
the FIRST Academy/SJU cohort. The
partnership was formed to support and strengthen each Academy’s CATHOLIC
IDENTITY, enhance and promote ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE and strengthen the Academy’s
long term viability and stability.
This marks the completion
of a two year transition of the school into academy status. Although the Academy has completed the
program, our partnership with St. John’s University will continue to grow.
Welcome to the Divine
Wisdom Catholic Academy website. Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy, established in
2009, is an independent Roman Catholic school formed under the guidance of the
Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and chartered by the New York State Board of
Regents. The Academy is committed to building on the best traditions and
standards of St. Anastasia Parish School, which, until its closure after the
2008/2009 academic year, provided outstanding Catholic education for over 80
years. As Directors of the Academy we are committed to achieving the Mission of
the Academy and making Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy the model for Catholic
elementary school education in Northeast Queens. We thank those in the
community for their support, and are grateful for the opportunity to serve
students and their families throughout Northeast Queens.
